Endoscopies
This department consists of a special room where the latest techniques are performed. The following tests are carried out on both inpatients and outpatients:
- Gastroscopy
- Urease test for H. Pylori
- Colonoscopy
- Polypectomy
- Therapeutic ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography): this endoscopic technique makes it possible to remove gallstones from the bile duct and pancreas and drain pancreatic pseudocysts.
Clínica Vistahermosa is the only centre in Alicante that performs this specialised therapeutic endoscopic technique.
The unit also acts in emergencies for inpatients and A&E patients at the request of any of the Clinic's doctors; this department is therefore involved in emergency cases 24 hours a day, as well as seeing its daily schedule of outpatients.
It is important to stress that our endoscopic accessories make it possible to take biopsies and cytological specimens, inject sclerosing agents in the treatment of upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding, dilate peptic and post-operative stenoses, remove foreign bodies, place rubber bands over oesophageal varices, insert oesophageal and enteral prostheses, catheters, and to perform other similar procedures.
Any of these techniques can be performed under DEEP SEDATION administered by the CLINIC'S ANAESTHETIC TEAM.
