Paediatric Emergencies
►Our A&E department has a paediatrician available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Outside this timetable, children will be seen by the doctor on call.
►The paediatrics department has its own waiting room, its own consulting room and a separate observation bay.
►The paediatrician on call will carry out a thorough examination and depending on the child's condition, tests will be requested and/or the corresponding specialist will be called. While waiting for the test results, the patient may be transferred to the observation bay, where he/she will also be visited by the designated specialist.
Once a diagnosis has been obtained, the doctors will decide whether to discharge or admit the patient, depending on the case.
►We have a computer system that makes it possible to monitor the patient following his/her admission and at every stage from performing the necessary tests to drafting the discharge report or transferring him/her to the ward. There is a computer in every room that the patient passes through, making it possible to monitor every step of his/her time in our A&E department.
